| Sumario: | A study was conducted to examine the utility of classification and regressions trees (CART) analysis in a social work setting. Data were gathered from a national study of child protective services screening practices to identify factors involved with worker decisions to investigate child maltreatment reports. Findings revealed that by better handling missing data and illustrating the interactions of multiple variables, CART provided a depth to the analysis that the logistic regression could not equal. Moreover, CART's graphical features and reported ease of use in clinical training and practice hold promise for enhancing service to clients and maximizing resources. |
