Summary:A commentary on an article by S. Rvachew and M. Nowak that appeared in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders, vol 44, 2001. In their article, Rvachew and Nowak appeared to question some of the work by Gierut and colleagues that showed that the treatment of more complex targets results in systemwide changes in phonological acquisition. The writers contend that Rvachew and Nowak's findings do not challenge earlier results but extend the generalizability of those findings in positive ways.
