| Sumario: | The Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Shanghai CDC) is a significant step forward in improving public health in China. Established in 1998 in response to changes in disease patterns, changes in the perception of disease, and changes in government, the Shanghai CDC aims to provide a central public health organization with integrated responsibility for community and individual health needs. Through 5 core departments, the Shanghai CDC carries out its functions of conducting surveillance, collecting health information, and conducting preventive medicine research. |
