| Sumario: | Kuwait is importing workers from non-Arab countries east of Arabia such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka at a rate of 1,000 a week to work as laborers, servants, drivers, and electricians. Prior to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, most of the work in the country was done by 1.4 million non-Kuwaitis, including about 350,000 Palestinians, 200,000 Egyptians, 500,000 Asians, and some Europeans and Americans. Eighty percent of the foreigners fled from the invading Iraqis, and most of the rest were obliged to leave after the Iraqi army was ejected. Since postwar Kuwaitis are unwilling to change their undemanding life style, alien labor must be imported once again.
