Sumario:Computers offer sports fans the next best thing to sport itself—talking about sport. Cyberspace effectively turns any computer with a modem into a barstool in the world's biggest clubhouse. Using the expanding network of electronic bulletin boards, commercial on-line services, and the Internet worldwide network of interlinked computers, fans can talk, argue, and reminisce with each other regardless of distance. All of the major commercial on-line services provide sports news and statistics, sports message boards and forums, libraries of sports-related software, and simulation and fantasy games. In addition, commercial services are helping their subscribers to access the Internet itself, by establishing gateways to Internet services such as Usenet and the World Wide Web. Information is provided on what is of interest to sports fans in each of these services.
