Sumario:Social history is not well served by standard bookstore practice, with very few of its titles represented in the history sections. The lack of coherence in categorizing social history titles contributes to considerable public ignorance about the field as a whole or its role in the larger discipline. This problem might be remedied if social historians join in urging their favorite stores to recategorize or to add a social history section.
