According to quantum cosmology, space is more fundamental than time, which appears to be a secondary phenomenon. Prize-winning cosmologist Paul Davies finds this dismissal of humans' deepest perceptions regarding time troubling. Many other scientists have suggested that there must be some subtle, so far undiscovered, physical process that makes time flow. Davies believes that there is an inner sense of time buried deep within human consciousness that is intimately connected with one's sense of identity and the idea that the future is still “open” and capable of being influenced by humans' actions.
