However, she argues that throughout her years of fieldwork and notwithstanding the different approaches, several key themes have proven essential to successful investigation. She considers these themes: to expect the unexpected; to envision all phases of the project from start to finish beforehand; and to engage in thorough and insightful observation during field data collection.
