| Sumario: | A response to a commentary in this issue by Thomas D. Jeitschko on the writers' “Teaching Price Discrimination: Some Clarification,” which appeared in the Southern Economic Journal, vol. 66, 1999. Jeitschko's comment does not alter any of the original recommendations made on price discrimination. The diagrammatic error highlighted by Jeitschko did not affect the numerical results reported in the original paper; his computations are merely an alternative numerical example to the original; the constant elasticity demand function case clearly indicates that elasticity differences are not needed for first degree price discrimination; and his example of third degree price discrimination is unconvincing. |
