Sumario:Part of a special section on the challenges and obstacles affecting children around the world and strategic alternatives to address these problems. The writer considers the main issues that refugee and internally displaced children confront during and after exposure to armed conflict. She outlines the structure, experience and efforts of the institutions and groups engaged in helping displaced children and examines the available support mechanisms employed to help these affected groups. Furthermore, she presents three cases to demonstrate the predicament of children influenced by and involved in armed conflict, namely, two cases of abducting children for use as child soldiers and one example of resettling children who have survived armed conflict.
