Despite the higher power, the experiment failed to provide significant results. The second study investigated whether first trials could reliably perform better than subsequent trials. Again, despite higher power, the experiment failed to provide significant results. It is concluded that the initial work provided an inflated estimate of effect size. Although no significant results were obtained, further experimentation may still be useful.
