| Sumario: | In 2002, the International City/County Management Association's annual Best Practices Symposium was held outside the U.S. for the first time, taking place in Sydney, Australia. The international symposium drew a broad cross-section of around 200 delegates from a number of countries, and the emphasis was on sharing international best practices in a setting that was conducive to free discussion and debate. A number of case studies were presented at the symposium, but it was the Household Panel from Wyndham City Council, Australia, that really captured the attention of delegates, as it not only highlighted the range of issues faced by local governments globally but also generated considerable debate. The features, strengths, and shortcomings of the Wyndham Household Panel are discussed.
