Sumario:Part of a special issue on the treatment of substance abuse. A study of a multistage therapeutic community drug treatment program that is used in the Delaware correctional system was conducted in order to examine the problem of achieving randomization in criminal justice research. Findings revealed that although randomization in treatment research does not need to be abandoned, its limitations need to be recognized.
