| Sumario: | A study was conducted to examine canine analogs of human personality factors. Data were obtained from 56 different breeds of dog. Analysis of the behavioral traits of the dogs produced three factors with some resemblances to the popular five-factor model of human personality: reactivity-surgency, aggression-disagreeableness, and trainability-openness. It was argued that canine and human personality similarities have their origin in biogenetic factors stemming from common evolutionary sources and from selective breeding of dogs for human companionability and task. Each of the three canine factors was demonstrated as having an extremely visible morphological indicator between breeds of dog. |
