Topping the list are lumberjack, cowboy, and construction worker. Author Les Krantz employed six criteria—day-to-day working conditions, income, employment outlook, physical requirements, security, and inherent stress—to rank 250 common U.S. occupations, and the worst jobs did poorly in all six categories. The best jobs in Krantz's ranking include actuary, software engineers, and accountants, all of which have good employment growth potential and clean environments. The most stressful job in Krantz's calculation, as measured by level of 21 specific job demands, is that of U.S. president, followed by firefighter, senior corporate executive, Indy class race-car driver, and taxi driver. pubtype: Periodical doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: N holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
