| Sumario: | A study was conducted to examine psychiatrists' attitudes toward the etiology of male homosexuality. Data were drawn from questionnaires completed by 508 members of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). Results revealed that respondents tended to endorse the view that genetic inheritance and prenatal hormonal development were most significantly related to the etiology of homosexuality. Such occupational characteristics as school of psychiatric thought and years of practicing psychiatry were found to have a significant effect on the APA members' etiological viewpoints. |
