| Sumario: | The present study reports preliminary results from a major investigation examining long term outcomes of individuals with specific learning disabilities (SLD) served through a state Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) system. The study examined psychological, educational, demographic, and VR service variables among successful and nonsuccessful closure types for individuals with SLD. A total of 613 persons were evaluated in this study including 361 clients who met the VR criteria for successful employment closure (Status 26), and 252 clients who were closed as unsuccessful (Status 28). Across all areas investigated, both groups differed on measures of individual intelligence, reading, writing, and functional limitations. Additionally, both groups differed in the types of VR services received. Implications and recommendations for current rehabilitation practice and future areas of research were discussed.
