| Sumario: | Part of a special section on alcohol drinking behavior over the life cycle. A study was conducted to investigate readily diagnosable syndromes of brain dysfunction brought about by high levels of prenatal alcohol exposure. Findings reveal that patients with fetal alcohol syndrome show evidence of structural changes both facially and in the brain. Of main concern are the changes in the brain that produce deficits in cognitive functioning, including memory and learning problems, attention problems, coordination problems, and difficulties with problem-solving. |
