| Sumario: | In an attempt to clarify the basis of a number of anomalous features of the cognitive mental module with which humans process and adapt to emotionally charged environmental or triggering events, the evolution of this module—the emotion-processing mind—is traced for the 6 million-year history of hominid existence. The nature of the current adaptive resources of this emotion-processing mind is examined as a way of introducing mental Darwinism, the concept that the emotion-processing mind is an adaptive entity that operates according to the principles of universal Darwinism, including the selection of adaptations by the environment from available inner resources and their favored reproduction or reuse. |
