Five acreage prediction models were used to produce estimates under a range of conditions. The results indicate that the way landowners react to cost-sharing can have a substantial impact upon the predicted effectiveness of a forestry improvement program. The predictions illustrate the importance of separating and accounting both for the number of tracts enrolled and for the size of the enrolled tracts.
