| Sumario: | Computers have more advantages than books as tools for law research. Electronic database technology, both on-line and in compact disc read-only memory (CD-ROM), can cut out much of the work involved in operating law libraries and legal research, can use considerably less space, can organize and retrieve the required information, and can deliver this data to screen or printer. By converting from law books to CD-ROM databases, correctional agencies can spend less and provide court access to inmates in a cost-effective manner. The names of recommended CD-ROM vendors are provided, and Maryland Correctional Education librarians' experience of changing to CD-ROM is discussed.
