Given the British establishment's hard work to save Blair and all his courtiers, Sir Alan Budd's inquiry into Blunkett's conduct should produce a formula to save the Home secretary. Blunkett's departure on this issue would be an insult to the Iraqi victims of war, those in Britain opposed to the invasion, and those who have suffered from Blunkett's immigration policies.
