Temporary employment and other forms of flexible employment, including part-time work, self-employment, home-based work, and subcontracting, have become a permanent strategy among companies. Although this may result in insecurity for low-skilled workers, highly skilled workers are using the system to their own advantage. The principal problem for companies is no longer a lack of flexibility but an undesirably high turnover rate among their most valuable employees.
