| Sumario: | A comprehensive review of Great Britain's approach to emergency management took place at the beginning of the 21st century in an effort to enhance Britain's ability to withstand and deal with disruptive events. It is possible that civil protection in Britain will become overly focused on preparing for terrorist attacks, a strategy that could result in insufficient attention being paid to approaches that promote a more resilient society with the capacity to respond to and deal with a range of threats. The writer examines changes to civil protection in Britain and argues that the institutional focus of these changes fails to engage the public in a wider debate about societal responses to the changing landscape of risk. |
