| Sumario: | A study was conducted to investigate the sociodemographic and nutritional characteristics associated with neurobehavioral development among young children living in three communities in Ecuador. Data were obtained from questionnaires administered to 283 children and interviews with their 219 mothers in the northeastern Andean region of Cayambe-Tabacundo, Ecuador. Findings revealed that developmental delay was common among the population. Findings also indicated that anemia and stunting were prevalent in all age groups. Findings suggested that maternal educational level was positively associated with communication and problem-solving skills, and household income had a positive association with communication, gross motor skills, and problem-solving skills. Findings and implications are discussed in detail.
