In his article, Eze contended that, among a number of positive things, South African metaphors are as powerful and philosophically robust as American Pragmatism, French Existentialism, or German Idealism. The writer suggests that the focus on, and the critique of, ubuntu in a post-apartheid South Africa has become a driving force in today's African social and political philosophy, and that in spite of its weaknesses ubuntu could be used to tackle and prevent some of Africa's and the world's problems.
