Data were obtained from statistics published by the World Bank, the Economist, and other sources on Bangladesh. Findings revealed that millions of people in Bangladesh are facing insecurity due to environmental factors. Findings indicated that environmental degradation often leads to economic underdevelopment, which can, in turn, adversely affect political stability; such natural disasters as floods and cyclones put huge pressure on the government every year, and its inability to cope with such pressure can weaken the regime, leading to political unrest. Findings revealed, however, that the people of Bangladesh are highly politically conscious and environmentally aware, and the media and nongovernmental organizations are also playing a positive role within the country. Findings are discussed in detail. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: N holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
