| Sumario: | In an interview, Marci Alboher, a former corporate lawyer who has written about workplace issues and careers, talked about “Slash Careers”. Slash careers are a growing phenomenon in which people refuse to limit their occupational description to one title. In the new age of work, people are just as likely to encounter lawyer/playwrights, CEO/moms, actor/web designers and restaurateur/designers. She originally write about slash careers for a New York Times article back in 2001. Once that article was published, she started noticing more people building lives in this way. The process is the same as in any career transformation. You need to identify your interests, find ways to get more exposure to and training in those areas, and then figure out how to make room in your life for something new. Usually that also involves shedding something you are ready to move away from.
