| Sumario: | This article presents a perspective on health care employment opportunities that both include and transcend the current traditional perspective, one in which employment opportunities are directly associated with hospital or hospital related occupations. That does not mean the traditional perspective is outdated. On the contrary it has represented and continues to represent the core of professions and careers that are integral to the health care industry. These occupations are the prerequisite to meeting successfully the challenges and complexities of the health care industry and the patients who wish to access it. Starting in 2006 and continuing through 2016, as an industry, health care will generate three million new wage and salary jobs. One approach for pursing a health care career is to follow the traditional licensed or certified specialist path as a physician, nurse, pharmacist, technologist. These occupations and many more that are included in this job category are and will continue to be the mainstay of the industry.
