Narr et al. contributed to the body of research on the brain locations associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents, with a specific focus on the thickness of the cortical mantle. Conventional wisdom suggests that ADHD may be too heterogeneous a diagnostic category to be meaningful in a neurobiological sense. The convergence of results concerning medial prefrontal cortex and anterior and posterior cingulate and precuneus by independent groups adopting a range of approaches implies instead that the development of explicit testable models of the pathophysiology of this common disorder may be closer than is commonly assumed.
