| Sumario: | A study analyzed business lobbying in China to determine the tactics and strategies used by companies and associations to influence Chinese public policy. Data were obtained from a survey of 131 of China's largest firms with government affairs staff working in Beijing and a survey of 73 national-level Chinese industry associations. Findings revealed that companies and associations serve their interests through, among other things, providing information and fortifying their public standing. Findings indicated that former officials are valued recruits, but more for their knowledge of the internal workings of the political system than their relationships with specific individuals in office. Findings and implications are discussed in detail.
