Sumario:A study examined human trafficking in Russia through an analysis of the incentives and disincentives Russian law enforcers have for enforcing anti-trafficking laws. Findings suggested that Russian law enforcement's poor performance is not due solely to corruption or disinterest in human trafficking. Findings revealed that structural impediments, combined with problems specific to the anti-trafficking law, influence the likelihood that law enforcement agencies will use other parts of the Criminal Code to prosecute traffickers instead of specific laws dealing with trafficking. Findings and implications are discussed in detail.
