He points out that Mill's notion of liberty exists in tandem with anti-liberal ideas, some of which are quite hostile to freedom. He argues that Mill's could not find logic in family, marriage, religion, tradition, morality, and custom, as he saw them as repressive obstacles to freedom rather than the bulwarks of liberty. |
