Both approaches yield important information about the geography of the brain in individuals with an ASD and correlate the geographic disturbances with symptoms of the disorder, but they do so at varying degrees of spatial resolution and therefore with different abilities to identify the specific neural circuits that the pathogenesis of ASDs entails.
