      ab: The writer examines the pathways in the central nervous system (CPS) that control penile erection. He provides a model for the (CPS) organization of erection. He examines organizational principles of the sexual function in the nervous system; methods for studying the CPS control over penile erection; spinal innervation of the penis and its associated structures; and the role of the midbrain, hypothalamus, and forebrain. He asserts that sexual responses are complex and coordinated activities involving sympathetic, parasympathetic, and somatic spinal outflow. He concludes that although much has been discovered about the role of the CPS in penile erection, considerable further research is necessary.
