| Sumario: | The year 2000 (Y2K) computer bug poses a threat to all nations of the world, but particularly to the developing nations. Even in developing countries, populations rely on information technology for basic infrastructure services. Many nations do not have the financial ability to deal with the problems that will be posed by the Y2K bug. The Asian economic crisis and the collapse of the Russian rouble took many resources away from efforts to deal with the Y2K bug. The Y2K bug poses a threat to all nations, but the extent of this risk is impossible to ascertain. The impact it will have on the developing world will most likely be impossible to ignore. |
