| Sumario: | The writer reviews The Kissinger Transcripts: The Top-Secret Talks with Beijing & Moscow, edited by William Burr. He asserts that the volume is a landmark along the route of understanding the inner workings of the Sino-U.S. and U.S.-Soviet relationship during a critical period of the cold war. He explains that the volume consists of memoranda of conversations and transcripts recorded by a number of notetakers that were obtained by the National Security Archive due to statutory declassification of older materials and under the Freedom of Information Act. He argues that although the documents provided are fascinating and further the readers' understanding of the development of relations between Washington and Beijing, Washington and Moscow, and the triangular relationship among the three, the volume suffers from sloppy editing. |
