The writer discusses the global nature of the Y2K problem. The U.S. is dependent on imports from other nations, and it also exports to countries all over the world. This means that if the Y2K problem has an effect on any nation involved with the U.S., it will be felt in the U.S. If the Y2K problem is left unattended, it could have an impact on critical systems such as logistics management, communications, command, and control around the world. In addition, the U.S. should support nations that suffer humanitarian crises caused by the Y2K problem. The global interdependence of communications systems is a cause for concern, and it could seriously affect U.S. soldiers stationed in countries that are not Y2K compliant. The major problem likely to be caused by Y2K, however, is that of a major global recession. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: N holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
