| Summary: | Part of a special section on inmate labor. A description of Florida's Prison Rehabilitative Industries and Diversified Enterprises (PRIDE), which is a new approach to offender job placement, is presented. Experience has revealed that offenders and convicted felons are frequently unwelcome in the community and workplace upon release from incarceration and that the training and work experience that they receive in prison may not be sufficient to assist them through the difficult transition from prison to employment. PRIDE is a nonprofit organization that operates independently of the Florida Department Of Corrections. It has, to date, managed to successfully connect prerelease and post-release programs that address the need for job placement of offenders following their release from prison. |
