Corrections officials are routinely employing the newest technologies, from automated records management systems to sophisticated tracking equipment, in order to enhance the smooth running of their facilities. These technologies include those associated with video technologies, security and surveillance, communication, automated management tasks, and identification. However, administrators must demonstrate that technology can save much-needed agency dollars and persuade staff that technology will help them do their jobs.
