They focus on demands for a recreation site that emanate from a “conditional” demand system. The idea, they argue, of including time components as arguments in demand functions that are separate from the out-of-pocket costs may be a good one. After briefly reviewing separability and illustrating conditional demand systems both with and without the assumption of separability, they focus on what is typically estimated in recreation models and the way that this differs from what theory suggests in suitable.
