Sumario:Part of a special issue on consumer choice theory in the 20th century. The writer discusses the way in which the problem of aggregation of demand has been considered in the literature on estimation of systems of demand functions. He notes that this literature has been somewhat neglected by theorists, who may be surprised to learn that the problems of aggregation of demand functions have been studied quite extensively in this field. The writer goes on to discuss the theoretical aspects of the aggregation problem before examining some statistical and econometric aspects.
