      ab: Two studies were conducted to examine the effect of personal relevance and approach-related action expectation on relative left frontal cortical activity. Data were obtained from a total of 111 college students. Findings revealed that increasing the personal relevance of the stimuli and approach motivational intensity increased relative left frontal activation. Furthermore, findings indicated that asymmetrical frontal cortical activity can be accounted for by motivational direction rather than by affective valence. Findings are discussed in detail.
