      ab: A study was conducted to investigate specific brain regions for one component of theory of mind. Data were obtained from 12 people aged 19–26 who participated in a functional magnetic resonance imaging experiment. Findings revealed that the division of labor among regions of cortex of the brain of healthy human adults seems to reflect the developmentally distinct components of theory of mind. The right temporoparietal junction in particular, as well as the left temporoparietal junction and posterior cingulate, seems to be recruited just when subjects reason about another person's thoughts and beliefs. These are exactly the concepts that characterize the change from the early to late-developing component of theory of mind. Findings are discussed in detail.
