      ab: A study examined whether explicit memory for contextual information is required for context effects of spatial-simultaneous context on visual recognition memory in healthy young adults. Findings indicated that that the effects of spatial-simultaneous context reinstatement on visual object recognition memory are observed regardless of whether those context stimuli are clearly recognized. Findings suggested that ensemble unitization of target and context stimuli at encoding might lead to spatial-simultaneous context effects, whereas temporal context effects may necessitate recollective processes.
