| Sumario: | A study examined the veracity of bone remodeling rates for the Pleistocene humans proposed by Abbott et al. Data were obtained from using bone histomorphometry applied to the lower limb cortical bone of Pleistocene humans to determine age at demise and establish bone remodeling rates. Osteon density and mean osteon size were also measured. Findings in respect of recalculation of data previously reported by Abbott et al. revealed mathematical errors in the remodeling rates determined for the Pleistocene humans. Findings suggested that the revised remodeling rates for the Pleistocene group are same with the values obtained in a more recent comparative sample. Findings are discussed in detail. |
