| Sumario: | The article discusses wireless social networking software applications, focusing on the ways in which they can be designed to promote site-specific communities. Examples of Web 2.0 technology such as text messaging and smartphones are discussed in the context of social dynamics. Social groups are categorized as nomadic or settled, depending on whether their physical locations are dynamic or stable. The importance of designing user-friendly application interfaces is stressed. Examples are provided of how the analysis of wireless community activity can lead to better software design. |
