      ab: Progress in the study of human behavior using functional brain imaging techniques is examined. Techniques designed to measure changes in brain blood flow or metabolism that accompany changes in neuronal activity are reviewed, and studies of verbal response selection are examined. In addition, current methods in functional brain imaging, the progress made in relating psychological theory to actual brain circuits, and the development of appropriate behavioral tasks that respect the restraints imposed by imaging techniques and neurobiology are discussed.
