Educational programs employing GIS are well suited for project oriented approaches. Natural Resources Management, a recently established course based on holistic perception, systems dynamics, and cybernetics, employs geo-informatics as a vehicle for learning in projects on eutrophication, acidification, ecological settlings, and Landsat-TM multispectral classification. Despite being time consuming, these projects proved to be efficient tools for teaching environmental management. However, student differences in cognizance were pronounced, and most had difficulties linking different models and data integration, theory, and problem solving.
