Empirics for economic growth and convergence.

A study was conducted to assess the relevance of recent empirical results in relation to the convergence hypothesis. The findings revealed that the much-heralded uniform 2 percent rate of convergence could arise for reasons unrelated to the dynamics of economic growth; that usual empirical analyses...

The findings revealed that the much-heralded uniform 2 percent rate of convergence could arise for reasons unrelated to the dynamics of economic growth; that usual empirical analyses can be misleading for comprehending convergence; that the data, more revealingly modeled, demonstrate persistence and immobility across nations; and that convergence, unambiguous up to sampling error, is observed across U.S. states.
